For beginners, five to ten minutes a day is plenty! Don’t force an hour-long practice session. That’s a recipe for burnout. Small, daily bursts are much better for their memory.
Make it a Game

Creating a Successful Practice Space at Home
To help your child succeed, they need a good place to practice. It doesn't have to be a separate room! Just a quiet corner with good lighting will do.
Make sure they have:
A Tuned Instrument. If you have an acoustic piano, make sure it’s in tune. If you have a digital keyboard, make sure it has weighted keys! Need advice on what to buy? See our instruments page.
A Comfortable Bench. Posture is so important. Their feet should be flat on the floor (or a stool) and their arms should be level with the keys.
Their Music Books. Keep all their materials in one spot so they don’t waste time looking for them!
